More than 20 signs missing from Region 3 sites in recent years

BOZEMAN – Game wardens with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks are seeking information on signs that have been stolen from state sites in the region.

Most recently, two moose crossing signs were stolen from Missouri Headwaters State Park in November. Previously this year, signs were stolen on multiple occasions from Lost Creek State Park, including three traffic signs and three welcome signs.

Many other signs have been stolen from Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park, Limespur Fishing Access Site, and Williams Bridge Fishing Access Site. In total, more than 20 signs have been stolen from FWP sites in southwestern Montana in recent years.

“Stealing from a state park or a fishing access site is stealing from the people of Montana,” said Linnaea Schroeer, regional Parks and Outdoor Recreation Program manager for FWP. “This puts an unnecessary financial burden on public resources, and it detracts from the experience of visitors.”

Anyone with possible information on property stolen from FWP sites is encouraged to visit tipmont.mt.gov to get in touch with a local game warden. You may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
