The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources launched IHEA PathPerks, becoming the second state agency to offer newly certified hunters pro-level gear pricing from over 200 outdoor brands including Hornady, Swarovski Optik, Weatherby, and Vortex Optics. Co-developed by the International Hunter Education Association and Guidefitter, the no-cost program reaches Alabama's approximately 500,000 hunters at no expense to the state or students.

Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Angi Bruce has issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) decision not to delist the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) grizzly bear. Management of the GYE grizzly bear will remain under federal control.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is hiring up to eight warden positions around the state. The deadline to apply is Aug. 15. Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree — or will receive their degree by Jan. 6, 2025 — in wildlife management, range management, biology, zoology, ichthyology or other closely-related fields.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Licensing Bureau is soliciting proposals from conservation organizations that are interested in conducting a competitive auction or lottery for some 2025 licenses.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is hosting a community bear meeting at the Red Lodge Senior and Community Center (207 Villard Ave. South) on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Area landowners are encouraged to attend.

Conservation First USA is raffling a package for three hunt permit-tags — one each for black bear, mountain lion and javelina — and seven days of guided services with Dieringer Outfitters that includes meals and lodging. Every dollar raised through the raffle is returned to the Arizona Game and Fish Department and managed by the Arizona Habitat Partnership Committee. The deadline to purchase tickets is 9 p.m. on Nov. 14.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider fee increases to several nonresident big game permits when it meets Oct. 13 at Fort Robinson State Park. The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. Mountain time in the Buffalo Soldiers Barracks at the park located just west of Crawford at 3200 West Hwy. 20.

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is seeking public review of the draft 2023–2032 Virginia Black Bear Management Plan through September 5, 2023.

Anyone training bird dogs in Montana using game birds not raised in captivity needs to hold a bird dog training license, whether on private or public land. If you are training dogs with captive-reared birds, a license is not required.
